Lenborough Hoard Coin Pouch

Made to help raise funds to enable the Lenborough Saxon Coin Hoard remain in the UK, a copy of one of the coins of King Ethelred II found in the hoard was made. It has been pressed into 3mm veg-tanned leather, with a decorated border in a geometric style. Stained in different colours, the leather has been treated with a beeswax-based leather care.

The inner pouches have been made from suede and other thin leather, and shaped so that they can fit over the leather toggle and be removed if desired. The leather thing which pulls them closed can pass through the back of the pouch so that it can be tied to a belt in Saxon style.

Wooden toggles have been made from Oak, and secured using re-enactment Linen thread from the Saxon period.
